History of the Ligonier Tavern

in 1895 Ligonier had became a thriving town, owning its livelihood in part to many Pittsburghers seeking refuge from the hustle and grime of the city. At that time Mr. William j. Potts, Ligonier's first mayor, built for his family a fine Vicorian residence on this site. This was also the first home in town with indoor plumbing.

In 1927, Mr and Mrs James Calderelli , purchased the House from the Potts' youngest child Odie, and refurbished the building to incorporate a restaurant , bar and lodgings for weekend visitors, and was know as the Lincoln Hotel and restaurant and survived numerous renovations through 2 generations..

In 1976 wally and Rita Kriegar along with their 6 children purchased the Italian Landmark. Then in 1982 their oldest daughter Heidi and her husband peter Mckay purchased the Tavern from her family. They added a solarium 2nd and 3rd floor were turned into banquet rooms, They have made several upgrades through the years, and have always created wonderful In house gourmet menus, from house made a destination stop
